MSP raises concerns over COVID-19 impact on home movers

Aberdeenshire West MSP Alexander Burnett warns some movers may have bought new homes but been unable to sell their old ones before lockdown measures were introduced, and has called on the Scottish Government to introduce a grace period after lockdown is lifted, so they aren’t penalised for owning second homes.

WINDING-UP OF ESTATES – PROGRESS HAS BEEN MADE!

Unfortunately, the closure of courts, to all but essential business, has effectively halted the winding-up of estates for the last month.  The back-log is already substantial and sadly will continue to grow as the tragic Covid-19 death toll increases.  The delays could be even longer for people who have died without leaving a Will.

Company updates affected by Coronavirus

Companies House have announced that they are going to temporarily pause their striking off process to prevent companies being dissolved for failing to submit an Annual Confirmation Statement Form or file Accounts in time.  This will give businesses affected by the Coronavirus outbreak the time they need to update their records and will help to avoid them being struck off the register.

Impact of Covid19 on Scotland’s property department

The ESPC have analysed the impact that Covid19 has had on the Scottish market.  Whilst there has been a marked decrease in both the volume of sales and the number of houses coming to the market since March, the analysis has found that this is because of the impact of social distancing measures and Scottish Government guidance, rather than lack of demand.
