Unusual legacy for Borders sheltered house

Thanks to the bequest of former resident Bessie Inglis, current residents of a Selkirk sheltered house will be able to continue to enjoy playing and singing along to the piano, reports the Border Telegraph.

Bessie wanted to make sure that music could be heard at Mungo Park Court and left the piano and funds to the home in her will.

"Bessie's generosity to Bield after she passed away was overwhelming to both the staff and residents at Mungo Park Court who will now have a finely tuned piano for life," Kevin Rowe, fundraiser at Bield, told the Border Telegraph.

"Our residents have benefited a great deal from these kind legacies," he said. "From previous donations we have been able to build such things as new gardens, conservatories and summer houses which have gone a long way in ensuring both our residents and staff are getting the most out of their experience with Bield."
