New rules are now in force requiring that all property adverts mention the Energy Performance Indicator of the property being offered for sale or rent.

The rules, which came into force on 9th January, relate to the Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) which sellers have to provide to prospective buyers or tenants. These are documents which set out the energy efficiency of a building on a scale from A to G (with A being the most efficient). They also highlight ways in which improvements could be made.

The new rules mean that this rating must now be added to all adverts and schedules for properties that are currently on the market for sale or to rent, or that come onto the market in the future.
