What is a compromise agreement?

A compromise agreement is essentially a settlement agreement (sometimes also known as a '€˜severence agreement'€™) where an employee agrees to compromise or sign away his or her legal rights to claim against the employer in exchange for a sum of money or other terms provided by the employer.

The legal rights that the employee may have can include rights for claiming for unfair dismissal, redundancy or for types of breach of contract.
