Business Man Preying on Pensions Jailed

A businesses man who ripped off and conned pensioners has been jailed after he mis-sold wills and trust deeds while trading as The Pensioners’ Association and The Senior Citizens’ Advice Centre.

The High Court heard that the conman used numerous high profile charities he was apparently affiliated with in order to win over the trust of vulnerable pensioners and the elderly. The prosecutor said: “It is clear that each of his victims believed that his operations were charitable, rather than commercial ventures.”

Poorly Drafted, Uneffective Wills

Samuel Eaton would call pensioners explaining how they could leave a charitable bequest in a will for a few hundred pounds before leaving them with a poorly drafted, effectively useless wills and trust agreements.

Judge Alan Conrad QC said: “In my view these are serious offences involving a number of different victims, some particularly vulnerable.

“I accept to a degree you may have had authority to use one or two of the logos, but I don’t accept that the owners of those logos would have approved of the way in which they were used.”

The scam relied on cold calling however the judge stated that there was no doubt that Mr Eaton targeted the elderly who may not have had a will in place.
